Abena Story

Hello, my name is Abena Story. I have taught at George Manierre for 14 years in the primary grades. I have a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education, (Kindergarten – 9th grade), and a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership. I had a desire to become a teacher as early as elementary school because of a teacher that inspired me, and I will use every tool I have been given as an educator to attempt to inspire all students as my teachers have inspired me.

Ian Stone

Ian Stone

My name is Ian Stone and this is my fourth year of teaching. I obtained my alternative certification through the Chicago Teaching Fellows and my M.A.T in Special Education from National-Louis University. I moved to Chicago from New Hampshire in 2010 after graduating with a degree in Psychology from Lafayette College in Easton, PA. I have since gone on to adopt the Blackhawks as my hockey team of choice, but yes, I will always be a Patriots fan! I love Chicago and plan on staying here for many more years. My Bull-Mastiff/Lab mix, Lucy, also loves the city and all the sights and smells that go along with it. In my spare time I enjoy cooking and exploring the city. I’m excited to be a new member of Manierre Elementary!

Denise Gross-Winfield

Hello.  My name is Denise Gross-Winfield, Ms. G.  I am proud to be a Kindergarten Teacher at Manierre/Ferguson.  I always knew I wanted to be a teacher.  My favorite game was playing “School” with my two sisters growing up. I was born in Chicago’s Roseland/West Pullman area and went to high school in Crete. I attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale and obtained a B.A. in French Language and Literature.  I obtained a Master of Education Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from National Louis University.  I have lived and taught in Caen, France and on the beautiful island of Jamaica.  I have two children, Makeda and Noah, a husband Frank and a spunky Beagle puppy named Daisy G.  As a family we love to swim, listen to music and travel.

Monica Rittmeyer

Hi, my name is Monica Rittmeyer and I serve as the counselor/case manager. I am so excited to have the opportunity to be a part of the Manierre family!  Prior to coming to Manierre, I served as both a classroom teacher and counselor/case manager in Chicago.  Having experience in both an elementary and high school setting, I have a clear understanding of how to meet your child’s current needs as well as how to prepare them for high school and beyond. Some ways I can support you and your child include:

- Ensuring the diverse needs of students are met in the general education classroom and/or through specialized services
- Providing individual and group counseling
- Assisting students with high school selection and college readiness
- Connecting families to resources in both the school and community

My primary goal is to serve as an advocate for you and your child. If you are ever in need of support, please do do not hesitate to ask!  You can stop by in Room 110 to see me, email me at mlrittmeyer@cps.edu, or call at (773) 534-8456 Extension 48457.   I look forward to meeting you!
