Chicago Lights Community Outreach Program
- Tutoring Program: Partnership for over 30 years where students are matched with adult volunteers and meet 1 time per week to focus on literacy and computer skills. The largest concentration of students comes from Manierre School.
- CLASS: Provides arts education in dance and drama at Manierre School for over 13 years.
- Summer Day: Provides a safe place to learn and engage in academic classes and arts activities for 1st – 8th grades for 6 weeks each summer.
Children’s Literacy Initiative
Transforms instruction so that children can become powerful readers, writers, and thinkers. Manierre has been working with CLI for two years and received two classroom makeovers.

Innovations in Early Mathematics is an intensive, school-wide professional development effort to help schools achieve the Common Core State Standards in Mathematics in grades PreK – 3. Manierre has participated in this intervention since the spring of 2011, which has almost reached its halfway mark. Contract has 2 years remaining.

Helps parents create resumes and cover letters, provides them with job searching strategies, interview techniques, and how to “dress for success.”

Partnership for over 10 years and facilitate “Science on the Go” where teacher and coordinator from the Museum co-teach key hands-on, inquiry based science lessons.
Reading is Fundamental Program
Gives free books to our students 3 times per year

Sit, Stay, Read (SSR)
SSR improves reading fluency using a curriculum designed by UIC, with trained volunteers and certified dog teams. SSR has been volunteering at Manierre for 8 years.
